Wednesday 8:00pm, English folk dancing
Bodle Street Village Hall, Herstmonceux
There are many fine country dance composers in the 20th century but by general consent Patrick Shaw (1917-1977) stands supreme amoungst them.
Some of his dances such as Another Nancy's Fancy and Levi Jackson's Rag are staple fare in our clubs. Others, such as
John Talis's Canon are amoungst the more difficult attempted by most clubs, but if you are a capable dancer and have mastered all these,
you may nurse a secret ambition to go on to the really tricky Pat Shaw dances. Anyone for Four Winds?
If your answer is YES, we invite you to come along to the Herstmonceaux club where we try to get to grips with the challenging dances
(as well as the old favourites) in a friendly, laughter filled atmosphere. For contact details and map see our
East Sussex Library Page.

Alternate Mondays, 8.30 pm.
The White Horse Inn, Bodle Street Green, Herstmonceux
The White Horse Inn has hosted folk nights every other Monday since 1993. The club is held in the bar of the pub,
which creates a unique and intimate atmosphere. The bar is small enough for musicians and singers to perform without
amplification. We welcome all musicians, the very young and the very old, the very amateur and the very professional.
We try and book a guest once a month, ie: every other session. On guest nights, naturally, there is less time for the
floor spots. The word folk in our name may be slightly misleading. We attract both traditional and contemporary folk
singers and players, blues singers, blue grass bands jug bands and country singers. In fact, all folks are welcome.
Admission is free, but with an optional collection so that we can attract really good guests.
For programme, contact details,
map and directions and more information, see their website.
